I made a post in the General Discussion Forum asking about the possibility of viewing the original 1978 Promo that was made to go alongside JWs Musical Version. I haven't seen it since 1980 on Saturday Morning Swap Shop and even then didn't see it all as I was 6 and when I saw the tripod on screen I crapped myself and ran to hide. Until I eventually see it I'm attempting to re-create the promo, sort of, and I promised to upload some screen captures of it. It's to ultimately be in black and white, but as I'm creating and rendering clips they are in colour so I thought I would show these as they look quite nifty. www.roywatkinson.co.uk/images/wotw/St Pauls Cathedral.jpg[/img] St Pauls Cathedral.jpg www.roywatkinson.co.uk/images/wotw/Mass Destruction.jpg[/img] Mass Destruction.jpg Westminster.jpg Let me know what you think.

Cheers Anthony glad you like it. I've got various animated clips together but not the full video yet. I'll get a teaser up as soon as I've got enough to make something worth watching as I want to get the soundtrack together as well. Watch this space.

I've put a small teaser of the promo together. Bear in mind there is no audio and it is intentionally black and white with an olde film feel to it. I've edited the link as I've moved the file: media.putfile.com/WOTW30Just click the link and it should take you to the page handling the media.

Bravo, thats was top stuff. Has an eerie quality to it. Anthony

Hi Folks, Happy New Year!!!!! Glad you're all liking the teaser. As we speak I am working hard on finishing it off. It's about 1 minute 15 in length at the moment and it needs to total 3 minutes 30 as it uses Richard Burtons intro and then the Eve of the War so I'm just under half way through. Really enjoying it and I've never seen the original properly except for a few bits so it's like coming up with something original. This all started as a test project to try out some new software but has grown beyond. If I'd have known I would have gone further with the Tripod and made it look just like the JW one. I personally can't wait until I've finished it properly and it's been rendered and mastered. Should be very soon. Chris

Very nice work Chris. There are certainly plenty of "nods" towards the original 1978 promo.
I am lucky enough to own the 1978 promo and the 1989 music video to the Ben Liebrand remix.

It is good as I said. To make it more like the original, though, you would need to have it in colour and with strange colours for the buildings and so on. It definately has the 'feel' of the original.

Whenever I see stuff like this, I get incredibly jealous A great piece, and I can't wait to see the finished article. Unfortunately, we I can't compare it to the original, as I am only a young'un and have never seen it, but this looks great. Keep up the good work!

Not long to go now folks, it's almost done. In the meantime I've done a turntable render of my Tripod:
