"The cylinder was already opened in the centre of the pit, and on the farther edge of the pit, amid the smashed and gravel-heaped shrubbery, one of the great fighting-machines, deserted by its occupant, stood stiff and tall against the evening sky."-What We Saw From the Ruined House

Wayhey, cool! ;D
Is that a hand on the bottom left, grasping the lower part of a smashed window frame whilst peering out at the Martians?
I like the different poses of the Martians, especially the one on the middle left who appears to have gone arse over tit...
And is that the automatic digging machine I see...?

I love it, excellent art work. The tripod is wicked, exactly how I picture them to be honest.

Yes, and Yes, and thanks all... I made some tweeks to the image, fixing the hand a bit, and adding some wreckage, as well as deepening the look of the pit itself, and added it to my WOTW page.. www.lanceradvanced.com/Illustration/FanArt/WOTW.html

Lancer, this is some great work, I just want to know WHY you have'nt been snapped up to illustrate the book, because from those images your right for the job.
"The cylinder was already opened in the centre of the pit, and on the farther edge of the pit, amid the smashed and gravel-heaped shrubbery, one of the great fighting-machines, deserted by its occupant, stood stiff and tall against the evening sky."-What We Saw From the Ruined House
Slightly away from the subject matter - HG describes the machine as seen above. Note that the machine does not have to lower its hood to near ground level for its occupant to leave. The creatures can exit or enterance the machine while its still standing upright - meaning they use there tenticles to 'shimey' up and down the legs of the machine, so the tenticles are really not that useles afterall in our atmosphere.

Truley superb! Martians = Wicked Fighting Machines = Wicked Handling Machines = Menacing Digging Mechanism = Brilliant Love the ruined house in the back - ground! ;D What a situation for the narrator to be in!!! Really sets the imagination going. This really is a refreshing shot in the arm for us WOTW geeks ;D

[glow=red,2,300]Really great pic! I'm not 100% sure about the compartments on the back of the handling machine, I'd have thought the equipment would be more exposed from Wells desrip. Still, awesome, definatly awesome. A colour version would be cool. [/glow]

I've got to hand it to you, VERY impressive artwork. Definitely one of the best i've seen.
Are you planning on doing any artwork for the modern WOTW? Such as M1 Tanks, or Apaches against Tripods?
I don't have the artistic skill to pull it off!
