I'm kinda new around here so excuse me if my questions seem kind of obvious.
1. I've heard that the musical version of The War of the Worlds is quite popular, but what is it about? Is it based on the book? Or is it Jeff Wayne's own incarnation?
2. What is this CGI version?
3. It seems like a lot of people have heard it. I (obviously) have not. Is it available for download somewhere on the net or is it only available in stores?

1. Is is Jeff Wayne's own interprutation of the novel, but with some deviations in narrative to help it fit into the Musical medium. In it the events of the novel are portrayed via narration, music and songs. It is, in my opinion, the most loyal and brilliant adaptation to date. More information... and some samples of the songs, can be found at the official site: www.thewaroftheworlds.com/2. Following a recent anniversary and stage production of the above musical a new CGI film is in the making. Word at the moment says that it will be very loyal to the novel, and use orchestral versions of Jeff Waynes music as a soundtrack. Test footage can be easily found here: www.waroftheworldsonline.com/movies/jeffwaynetestfootage.htmApart from the above details are somewhat sketchy on the EXACT form the movie will take. 3. As mentioned above samples of the music can be found on the official site, but either way, I highly recommend you buy the full album in stores. It's easily found in HMV or other retailers, and is currently available on a two CD set, and as a Collectors Edition. Both our excellent purchases that I proudly invested in. Not only that, but the original vinyl is also rather easy to pick up, and a number of remix albums shouldn't be too hard to come by if you can shop online.

That pretty much sums it up. The CGI film was originally slated for a 2008 release but the massive success of the album re-release last year and the UK tour in April has trebled Jeff's personal workload and might mean a delay. As an admin on Jeff's official site, as well as here, I pester them regularly for news on the movie as I get asked about it a lot. Last Jeff said was that he was definitely doing it but he would not rush it and it will be ready when it's ready. Anyway, I go along with Marcus, the album is well worth seeking out. Check out the official site for samples.. www.thewaroftheworlds.com
