Christ, that is quite scary, isn't it!! Its a shame they sounded a bit suss, because it looks like they've made a real effort to dress up (Wembley '86 look ). Pity the Brian May guy hasn't got the B.M. guitar - its a Les Paul, isn't it? (he used them for a spare on stage in the early '70s) The thing is with us we don't dress up as such, we just try to capture the live sound. There are some superb Queen tribute acts around (Magic, Ga Ga & so on....) & they actually make a living out of it!!! , but when they play on stage, they use harmonizers, they key change & they play the songs like a studio recording, & without sounding nasty, I could stay at home and listen to the songs like that . IMO I think we're good at what we do, and we're always very well received (toot, toot - blowing my trumpet )

Nice to see that Brian May and Anita Dobson both agreed for the guitar player to have use of Brians and Anita's wig for that gig.

I know what you mean about the photo. They weren`t all that bad. No bum notes when they played, although a Spanish Freddie is something completely different, especially when he was trying his best to be as camp as the original and not getting it right at all. I`d be interested in hearing your band Stu, as I`m a bit of a Queen fan myself. I`ll have to admit the best instance of hearing someone else play Queen songs was when I saw The SAS Band (Queen Keyboard Player Spike Edney`s sideline project), where they had a superb session line up, including Chris Thompson from TWOTW who is a killer live performer, I think he did Hammer To Fall.. and Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet did We Are The Champions... the thing with the SAS Band is its all done for fun and you could tell Spike and all the other guys performing would have gone on all night if they`d not got a curfew from the Council ! There`s a funny story about this gig. It was at the Eastleigh Festival near Southampton, and I worked down that way at the time, I`d finished work that night and had nothing planned so I thought I`d check the SAS Band out. The festival was in a massive marquee in the middle of the recreation ground and I couldn`t work out where I got the tickets from. Anyway, wandering down towards the local theatre just off this ground, I thought that was the box office, sadly not, but near there was the backstage area... I saw a fella just about to go in and I grabbed him and said "Excuse me where do you get tickets from for this gig?", he goes "Its around the other side I think" pointing out directions.. I say thanks and let him get on, and then when he`s on later I realise that it was Tony Hadley!!!! Because you never know who`s gonna turn up, I just didn`t twig.. Good show though, Leo Sayer, Fish, Chris Thompson, the guy from 10cc, Paul Young.. the list of stars was amazing. If you ever get the chance, make sure you don`t miss this one!

I've heard a lot about Spikes SAS band PP, but never got around to seeing them - although I've seen Spike a couple of times before. In 1987 & 1992, I went to see Roger Taylors band 'The Cross' & in 1997 I also went to see Brian May & Spike was the keyboard player on all occasions. He also plays with Queen on the 'Queen & Paul Rodgers Tour' of which I had the pleasure of seeing last July at Hyde Park. If you don't mind me asking, where do you live, because at the moment we only do gigs mainly in the Bristol area (with a few exceptions). Look on our web site ( www.twry.co.uk) at the gig list & do come along if you can. . Going back to iffy Queen tributes, there's a (I think) Japanese Queen act called 'Kween' ( ;D). I'll post a picture & see what you think! I'm not one to take the rise out of anyone, but there is a line! They might be superb & I've got it all wrong, but from what I've heard from other people, they're definitely iffy!! I think he's about 5' & a fart & about 3 stones overweight - bless 'im ;D

Love that photo of Kween!!!! lol!!! Looks like Freddie`s been eating too much sushi! As for me, I live in Kent, near Canterbury, hang around a lot in Crawley, Sussex where my other half lives, and often go down to the south coast to see friends from my days living down there. If you play in Bristol I may be able to pop along, I have family in Weston Super Mare, could always double up the visit. Could be a laugh.. I`ll check out your website and see what i`m working over the next few months. Did you say you were going to the Dress Rehearsal at Bournemouth on Wednesday? I`ll be there if you wanna say hello. Only a couple of days to go! I cant wait!

Oh and as for dodgy tribute bands... Check out ... MINI KISS!!!!! www.littlemanentertainment.com/I used to really be into Kiss, and to see a bunch of virtically challenged guys do their own tribute act. It has to be the ultimate.. If they took over WOTW what do you think you`d get? Maybe a 3ft Tripod? Fires a heat ray at yer ankles?

Are they actually midgets? ( is that p.c.? ) Check out the gig guide on the web OR if you can make it, we're playing at the Fleece & Firkin in Bristol, in September I think. Its solely a music club, that has a kick ar*e sound system. I know its way off yet, but let me know if you can, & I'll arrange free entry for you (and anyone else for that matter )

Oh yeah.. and Mini Kiss.. yeah.. they`re really dwarfs (which i think is the PC term for it).. As far as I`m aware, they`re fully endorsed by the originals, and they played at Gene Simmons' Birthday Party the other year. Well.. I say played, I believe they just mime, just go for the novelty value.
