TempestTripod, Hail and well met. Good to see another Aussie here, you can back Bayne and I up if these Poms and Yanks get out of hand Sandgroper heh? You guys can play Aussie Rules, so you are OK by me. Not like those strange Eastern Staters, who plays Mugby anyway? It's a contest of whose head is the hardest. Not something to be proud of (just jokes, kinda). And thank God you are not a Vic, they are barely Australians ;D In SA, we call 'em Mexicans, i.e. south of the border. If it wasn't for their beer and the fact they can play footy, we would have cut them loose years ago. I'm sure everyone else is now bored by our interstate rivalry, but hopefully they can see how much fun we have ribbing each other. G'day mate and say hello to my parents if you see them, they are holidaying in Perth. Earthrise

Ah..Croweater... hey! Well your the last sensible people we Sandgropers' meet before we venture into the wacky land of Victoria (beer definitely excepted!). Well SA being almost west we will support your teams (in real sport Aussie rules Football!) against the Vics!
I am currently reading your WOTW screenplay...fantastic so far.
Best Wishes Mitch

Hi all ! Greetings ! This is Overlord Kell a.k.a.Monika. I´m 36 years old ( an old frump amidst all that young folks *lol*) and I live in Germany (Rhine-Ruhr-Area). I´m occupated as an employee of the local adminstration of my hometown. The fantastic genre played always a big role in my life and I can´t imagine a life without ! Here are some examples of the things I like : Favourite movies: WOTW, Star Wars Episode 4 - 6 (Yes, the classic ones...),Indiana Jones Trilogy, The Life Of Brian, Lord Of The Rings, LXG, Dune, Wild Wild West, Willow, Spaceballs, Mars Attacks ( Akakak !!),Black Beauty,Star Trek Movies, My favourite Martian ( with Christopher Lloyd !!!) Favourite series : Xena, St-TNG,Black Beauty, The Tripods, Robin Of Sherwood Favourite books: WOTW- The Classic, WOTW - Global Dispatches, Dune ( what a crazy-funny-megalomaniac-fascinating universe ! ), Harry Potter, Anne McCaffrey´s Pern books, other H.G.Wells books, Mary H.Herbert´s Dark Horse Novels, Dragonlance, John Christopher´s Tripods series, H.P.Lovecrafts´s Cthulhu stories and other scifi and fantasy books Favourite music: - Soundtracks & some classics ( especially those of the bombastic stile ) - Electronics ( Michael Garrison,Mark Dwane, J.M.Jarre, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream ) - WOTW The musical, the radio drama & the game remixes - Heavy Metal ,Independence & Gothic ( Nightwish, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Blind Guardian,King Diamond,Subway to Sally,In Extremo,Deine Lakaien ,S.P.O.C.K.,Wolfsheim ) Other activities: horse riding, computer gaming, rolepaying ( pen & paper, LARP) The first scifi movie I´ve ever seen was really WOTW ( I was 5 and fully fascinated !), followed by the ST Classic series, the german Orion series and other fantastic films. In 1979 I found a today very well-known double album in the record store. It was more then fascinating to hear my favourite scifi story as a musical ! And the " infection" began.......:-) I always wondered about that great story : the cooling of Mars; its inhabitants evolution; their preparations of invasion; their feelings ( if they look to our planet with "envious eyes" they must have some kind of emotions !).Yes, some may say I´m on the Martian side....:-) This summer I spent a few days in London and visited the Woking Martian and made a lot of pictures of that cute tripod sculpture ! I missed the sandpits and the rest of the tour because of bad weather and lack of time. Must come back to see all of it..................... I´ve also found the H.G.Wells Conference Center in Woking - what a great place for a convention !! Just day dreaming................. Ok, that´s all for now.............. Best wishes from autumnal germany ! Overlord Kell PS: I´m happy to find that forum and I hope my english is understandable- if something´s unclear, please ask !

Monika, how fortunate you are to live there in Germany surrounded by so many great metal bands. I personally consider Gamma Ray the best band in Germany now (if not the world...but you did mention Maiden, so...), but what about Masterplan and Helloween? Or Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, plus the legions of long gone but classic thrash bands like Deathrow, Necronomicon, Poison...and then there was the Swiss and Dutch scenes so nearby...
I'm just a couple of months away from 36...you're not alone.

Charles -you are right: we have lots of good metal bands in germany ! The ones I mentioned were only examples..........I´m not so much involved in the scene, but I have a lot of cd´s. Ah, you´re "old" too ! It´s good to know I´m not alone with my age.........*lol* Johan,to be honest - I´ve never heard some music of Oxymoron so far..........guess that must be changed !

Hi I'm Tripod my real name is Vince. I'm not so long a WOTW-fan I think a year or so.(This doesn't mean that I'm not a real WOTW-fan) I made 4 WOTW models from the only recours I had Lego Technic. I made: 1 Jeff Wayne Tripod model. 1 Tripod out of my own fantasie. 1 Handling Machine of my own. 1 Digging Machine to of my own. I think they are pretty good. I like this site very much and I must congratulate you all with this cool message board! Vince

I've e-mailed you about the game. Guess it's easier to talk about the game in Dutch then in English ;D

Ladies and gentlemen my handle is Thorgrimm, my real name is Kenneth D i c k i n s o n, it also does not like my name, and i reside in the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota. I first was introduced to WOTW when in 1967 at the tender age of 5 i read WOTW for the first time, and saw the 53 movie for the first time that winter. I must admitt i was more fascinated with the military aspects of WOTW, as i remember asking my father how come the machines on the tv were not like in the book, and why the good guys (us) could not hurt them. So that put me on the road of reading WOTW once a year every since then always analyzing the military aspects of the Martian campaign. And yes when i grew up i spent 16 years in the USMC i tend to avoid the social comments of the novel and concentrate on the good story. My favorite books are WOTW, and Starship Troopers I am a board wargamer and have over 300 wargames, including the Task Force Games version of WOTW. Now for a living i repair and build pc's for customers and setup the physical infrastructure of networks. So i am a big pc game fan, i even have the atari 800 version of Task Force games WOTW. I also have an original release of the Musical from 1977 that i picked up with my allowance, i was 14 at the time. So i have been a fan of WOTW since the age of 5 and will be till the day i pass on. Cheers Thorgrimm
