To celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of the 1906 L'Vandamme Edition of the War of the Worlds, I am pleased to announce that the Alvim Corrêa War of the Worlds Collection (currently on display at the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame in Seattle) is for sale!
This remarkable collection includes:
31 x original, large-format drawings from the 1906 L'Vandamme Large Format Edition. This the original artwork used to create the printing plates for the book - not reproductions!
1 x original promotional poster for the 1906 L'Vandamme Edition.
1 x original postcard from HG Wells to Alvim Corrêa
Alvim Corrêa is widely regarded as HG Wells' favorite War of the Worlds illustrator. Over the past 100 years, copies of his imaginative artwork have been seen on the covers of several editions of the book, in innumerable magazine/newspaper articles, as well as featured in several War of the Worlds documentaries.
The impact of Alvim Corrêa's illustrations can still be seen throughout the Science Fiction genre today and will continue to inspire artists well into the future.
