What i have in mind is a regular shield shape with a hood where the boss would be. It would be pretty featureless, with the legs, heat ray, black smoke launcher and handling tentacles slung underneath. The basket was "slung on its back" or somesuch wording so i've got to figure a way of adding that.

The L2 pylons we have in the uk are 100 feet tall. This is a good way to give you an idea of how high the fighting machines would have looked As you can see, they would tower above all the houses and would look pretty scary running at you over the Surrey countryside.

You can see how tiny the people are compared with the fighting machines (Pylons in this case) Imagian that monster coming at you the speed of a train! ;D

Just look at an L2 design 400kV electricity pylon. They equate to the described height of a fighting Machine. I said that months ago and no-one took me seriously. <boo-hoo, snivel, snot>

Don't cry Poyks, you can take this moment of glory ;D I must admit, looking at them while walking in the countryside aways puts the image of tripods battleing with redcoated soildiers across the medows in my head

We'll call it 50/50 George. ;D
I've always been in awe of pylons, and used them to imagine the height of the fighting machines.
