Hi Killraven - Thanks, I'm glad I could add something to the discussion.
Yeah, I think our sky would appear darker to the Martians than it would to us, although probably not a lot. Our sky color just lets more blue light through than other colors, but a lot of the other stuff comes through too, or our sky would be a primary blue only and not nearly as bright as we see it. The Martians would be able to see all the other components of our sky color that fell in their visual range. We'd probably say that they saw our sky as dimmer and 'greener' than we see it, but compared to their reddish sky, they'd probably say our sky was very 'blue.'
I'll bet they'd be amazed at our sunsets though! I've seen pictures from Pathfinder and the MER rovers that show sunsets on Mars are rather bluish and so our sunsets would look amazingly red and bright to them.

Cheers Topaz, I've learnt a lot from that With such a "blue blindness", it makes you wonder really what the martians saw as the sky or the oceans according to the book, blue and violet appeared as black to them. so, the oceans and the sky probably appeared black or dark shades of grey. Look at the facts: They were in the South of England for 2 to 3 weeks in June. Of course the sky was grey! [glow=orange,2,300]broton[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300] Interesting thing, it was noted that amongst Australian Native peoples colour blindness is far more common, this condition however improves night vision and distance vision. Recent studies of Indonesian sea gypsies show a host of adaptations for underwater vision, some of which seem to come from repeated use, in that other people who spend enough of their lives underwater will get similar changes, while others are inherited. [/glow] I know at least six people that are colour blind, including my dad and my cousin. The interesting thing about colour blindness is that it is a genetic trait passed on only by females and it only affects males. So in my dad's case he is colour blind but neither myself or my brother are. However his sister's (my aunt) son is colour blind. This would also mean that my aunt's daughter is a carrier and if she had any male children there is a high likelyhood they'd be colour blind. This has absolutely nothing to do with Martians but I thought it was fascinating none the less. ;D
