! why did radio fail. They never explain why radio communication was out.
2 What was that big multilevel bridge people were running on as LA was being evacuated if looked like two or three bridge on top of one another?
3. Did they turn on air raid sirens in LA or was the sound added in?
4. Is there a copy of the script avaible online anywhere?

1. The Martians had some kind of EMP/Magnetism thing going on which wasn't properly explained. No Spielberg didn't think of it first. Nor was he the first not to bother explaining it. 2. No idea. Anybody else know? 3. No idea, but I'd plump for the latter. They wouldn't want to cause a real panic now would they? 4. Never seen one and a quick search turned up nothing. Good questions.

It's called the "4-Level Interchange", & is in downtown L.A. It's a well-known local landmark, & serves as the junction of several freeways. 3. Don't know but, as was pointed out, it's unlikely that they actually activated the sirens because it probably would've caused a panic. Remember, WWII had just ended a few years before & the Korean War was in full swing. 4. I found a 1951 screenplay at www.scifiscripts.com by Barre Lyndon. It seems more complete than the final version that became the actual movie. Hope that helps.

Could you imagine mantas runniing across the 4 level interchange that would have been sweet to see one on the top going one way and another on a lower level heading in a different direction.

And then that leads to a traffic jam of mantas all going the same way, all of which seem to have forgotten they can just fly over the others. ;D

Just watched it again on the weekend. It just about edges ahead of Spielbergs for me, though I still very much admire the Berg's effort too. If only they'd removed the plot holes, the news crew, put back in Camelot, not shown the aliens themselves and made the soldier as the one who kills the tripod in the basket, then it would have been perfect. (Not asking for much I know
