[shadow=red,left,300]Hey Everybody!
Ok... you brainiacs rub those neurons together and name the small town where the first Martian cylinder landed.
Hint: It's 30 miles from Los Angeles.[/shadow]

The summary of the film (on the web, saw it ages ago) says a meteor flares over Linda Rosa so I assume that was it, like Nerf said (me making sure not to take credit for it should it be right lol)

[shadow=red,left,300]Well, according to...[/shadow] leonscripts.tripod.com/scripts/WARWORLDS.htm[shadow=red,left,300]... the small town in CA that played unwitting host to the first Martian invader was indeed Linda Rosa. I've found Corona but I haven't had any luck locating the town of Linda Rosa with Google Maps. I also can't find Pine Summit. Jeepers! That Martian pilot in 53 had better maps than we do today! So was Linda Rosa a real place or just made up for the movie? If it's real let me know if you find a map or other info on the town. Thanx[/shadow]

Well it was Linda Rosa, California but I think it was a made up place. I can't find any reference to a real one.

Pine summit is now a sort of christian retreat I believe, if you google it the site for the camp should come up.

Yeah, I tried Google, and Mappoint, but didn't find it. Maybe Linda and Rosa are the names of two woman (lovers?) in Pal's life.

Nerf was right all along. It was indeed the (fictitious) town of Linda Rosa. I think it's even mentioned in the DVD commentary somewhere.
