Thanks to sci fi channel I have finally seen this version. My verdict? MUCH better then the Spieilburg film. C. Thomas Howell was wonderful, a LOT more convincing then Tom Cruise. The alien effects were abit... ehhh but the walkers were awesome. Much better then Pendragon of coruse, but also better then Spielburgs crap. But alas as everyone warned this was too fast, I wish it was longer. But the green smoke idea, pretty cool... not quite like the book but meh. But I will give this version points for originality, its one point below the Pal film but a million points above the Spielburg version.
7/10 is my score, not perfect but not as bad as people say it is

I think C. Thomas Howell's preformance was exceptional in this version. Maybe even the main reason to buy it. Certainly better than a certain T.C.. Jake Busey's role on the other hand? Ehh. He really stood out with Verhoeven in "Starship Troopers". I expected better. The six legged Fighting Machines Look pretty good for the most part, I'd agree. Notice I didn't say "Tripods". This movie doesn't have those. In which case you'll want to check out Spielberg's "Tripod Movie". Nothing at all like Pendragon . And visually lacking compared to Spielberg's view. But far more engrossing. It's worth a good look.

Thanks! Yeah, sorry about my login name...on other boards it's a little more obvious as I sign in as "DirectorDave." I do admit I frequent this board a little less these days (but I'm still interested in what you have to say -- good or bad!) If you want to get to me directly I finally started a 'myspace' account at: www.myspace.com/directordaveAnyway, thanks for the discussion. I'm glad that the work is getting seen, and that you take it serious enough to comment upon.

I only don´t like the Hexapods... is a pretty good design but the Tripods are a Symbol. I assume that with more money you would put tanks and The Thunderchild in it. Well, in my opinion you have the honour to make The Best Adaptation of The War of the Worlds since 1953 (George Pal movie is great in spite of destroy the book ). Why can´t we enjoy The Asylum movies in Spain???
But i have to admit that i don´t like "King of the lost world" at all.

Sounds like it's a 50/50 venture if you get The Asylum movies. By the way...I didn't know KING was available in Spain...damn pirates!
But fret not, you should have a bunch of Asylum films coming your way. I do know that KING OF THE ANTS (not LOST WORLD) was sold in Spain...you might want to check that out.
As far as the Tripods...well, if I was to do it all over again...
