Well we finally get a trailer. And I have to say, im not overly impressed.
For a straight to video movie, it does look like it could have its moments, but it looks ludicrously over the top. I reckon I would be cringing all the through, and not because it's scary!
Someone has taken one fantastic piece of literature, and turned it into a movie that looks almost as nasty as those 6 legged walkers. And they are still trying to pass it off as "H G Wells' War of the Worlds". IF they repackage the movie as "Invasion", then it would probably be quite an enjoyable sci-fi romp. But putting HG Wells name on it, just because its about aliens and walking machines, really is not cool. However, I will reserve total judgment until I have seen the offending article in full. Whenever that may be.

[glow=purple,2,300]Now, This is what I wanted from Pendragon & Paramount! Proper scenes I can directly relate to the book. I know I said a modern adaptation didn't interest me, but this trailer took a kipper, slapped me in the face with it, and impressed me big time!
It looks brilliant - and authentic to the book. So they have 6 legs - I'll just think of them as conjoined tripods and be happy! In fact, I can't really find anything wrong with it.
What am inpact Asylum have made in the past 3 weeks - Tim, watch and learn! .[/glow]

What weve seen:
Artilleryman (soldier) Priest (curate) Cylinders! Martians! (spielberg take note) desperate fighting, mass fleeing trapped in house due to cylinder collapse.
nice.

[glow=purple,2,300]Paste that link into the OPEN URL IN NEW WINDOW option in Quicktime player.
I found that the link just gave a white screen for ages until it fully downloaded - it looks like it's doing nowt. At least in QTPlayer you can see the download bar crawling along...![/glow]

or right click it and "save link as..."
then you can have a local copy and watch it as many times as you like without re-downloading.

I quite liked it. Much better than Pendragon's 'effort' and no sign of gravity defying Big Ben. At least they aren't claiming that this film is better than it actually is or pretending it will have a world wide cinema release.

Yeah, the trailer is a lot better than I expected it to be. It's hard to tell from a quicktime file whether the effects will be believable at full size, but overall it's looking promising.
If they made a movie of that standard for a million quid, that's a pretty good job!

Can't view the trailer and the link www.theasylum.cc/cgi-bin/showMovie.cgi?id=6Sounds nothing like "The War of the Worlds"! I hope it's not an Indipendance Day type film, although I liked it, but that for a film about "War of the Worlds" would be complete shash!
