Is it fair to say though that his good points about what is bad about this awful film is temered by good points about what is good about this film.
Most f us hate it, it doesn't mean that it was total crap. In this film's case, as oppsoed to a certain timbo movie, taste is relative

It's fair to say, even to me- I don't mind the film (though it loses something with every viewing if you don't turn your brain off), that the guy is right on just about every level- though I disagree with his comments on the tripod design- the one praiseworthy part of the film...
But- cheated, once again...

I initially loved this film when it came out, but I think that was partly helped by the sight of tripods stamping around on film. ( I really think the tripod design is awesome)
The more I watched it the more I realise that this really was a missed opportunity to really do something with the story of War of the Worlds. I also expected a lot more from Spielberg.
It's a good action film, and I would never say I hated the film, then again I havn't watched it for about a year, and that itself says alot.

I also expected a lot more from Spielberg. That is a good point. If I was new to the WOTW scene, to watch this film now for the first time, without seeing the artwork or end titles, I would not have said this was a Spielberg film.

Action film? There's hardly any action in it. More action is one of the many things it needs. I can't see myself watching it all the way through again - too many plot holes, lazy storyline, uninteresting characters, too much melodrama, boredom and a feeling that film is rushed and throw away. I like the tripods except for the feet based on the '53 martian hand. That almost ruined the tripods entrance for me - far too knowing and wink wink.

I just got back into WOTW after watching the DVD version and I decided to register an account. Anyone who remembers me from upcomingepics, hi, yadda yadda yadda.
Now then, Jesus, man. It's been a year and a half. Just let it go and stop obsessively searching for reasons to hate this movie.

Just let it go and stop obsessively searching for reasons to hate this movie. Just let it go and stop obsessively searching for reasons to like this movie. just change one little word...Well yeah it's still weird for people to obsessively search for anything in movies really but still looking for negatives nearly two years after this movie came out isn't really healthy, and I'm not being rude, but it's just weird.

Just let it go and stop obsessively searching for reasons to hate this movie. Just let it go and stop obsessively searching for reasons to like this movie. Thats the point though Rusti, no one person in this thread or this very topic has done that. It's just another obssesive "I hate this" thread by Rustiswords.

What's strangely ironic to me, Lensman, is that the executive producer of "Pinky& The Brain" later went on to do a certain si-fi movie. Guess which one that was? Narf! Spielberg's "Brain" as to Tom's "Pinky"? You gotta admit.., it makes you wonder.

It's been a year and a half. Just let it go and stop obsessively searching for reasons to hate this movie. Upcomming epics, was the first site i found about WOTW, it was fun, did a lot of reading there more than a year ago. it was the first time i was on a forum. it is nice memories. At the time everybody liked the movie, but when the dvd came, and when we saw it more, than the critics started. but it is normal, Now with all that time past, i would like it to be more faithfull to the book, in our time. And seing more of the humain fear of them, and more battlefield. even maybe the army trying a Nuclear bomb with them like in 1953 movie. Anyway the first time i saw it because of the first scene during the day, seing this very high tall machine, getting up on his 3 legs, was something. at the time, in the theater. And the 2 first times i saw it after. then....................Chantale.
