Did Ray get up there that soon after the crash? Let me be honest, my short-term memory isn't very good. But IIRC when all the noise outside happened, and the window blew in when the plane crashed to earth, Ray got that WTF?? look on his face, and went up the stairs to investigate. There were some pauses while he looked around at the wreckage of the rooms in the ground floor-- there was quite an explosion when the plane hit down-- but I think he got outside within 2-3 minutes of the crash. But as we saw in other scenes, 2-3 minutes would have been ample time for the tripods to have picked up a whole bunch of bodies and have already walked off. Keep in mind, this was *not* the same basement where he encountered Ogilvy and had the running encounter with the tentacle/eye-probe.

Yes I see.
If I remember correctly to they (Ray, Robbie and Rachle) were hiding in a small room full of pipes or something? But I'm in agreement with you about 2-3 minutes for two or three tripods to collect a lot of people. Whether those people were lifeless at the time or running around screaming their heads off.
But supposing the tripods used the heat ray against the plane, that could also explain why there are no bodies - the heat has vaporised them prior to the plane hitting the ground.

I have gone back to the film to look into this.
The air crash takes place at night, ending with a blackout and "...are we still alive?" Rae then goes outside in the morning. (I'm guessing a gap of about a couple of hours.)
Valid point though. I must admit this one did confuse me for a bit.

Maybe I can look some things up in War of the Worlds: The Shooting Script it provides some wonderful background information, such as the origin of the piece of rock Ray picks up at the intersection. I hope I made you interested. Tripod

What on earth is that? The Shooting Script?
Where can you get one? Maybe it might have some answers in it.

If you like the movie you'll certainly like this. Here and there you can discover some deleted scenes, accept for the 'walk-scene' and the 'camelot-scene', but the 'bar-scene' is in there. You'll find some interesting info if you dig through the pages. I don't know where you can still get it, just search the web I'm sure you'll find a copy. Tripod

Tripod I have been wanting to get ahold of this script book for a long time and i discovered doing a search on amazon months ago. cool the bar scene wow i want to see that one. And when Ray and his kids come upon some town that is being ransacked by 10 or more tripods. I have seen some vague segments of that over in the eve forum. And yes i beleve there is a scene where Ray goes to a tavern just after he leaves the docks and the lady named Sheryl in the ferry disaster i think she is the bartender. The credits i see in the dvd i have seem to hint at it. I tried to find this script book in bookstore in Portland, Oregon usa where i am from but that got no where. Maybe i should try out Barnes n Noble.

If I remember correctly to they (Ray, Robbie and Rachle) were hiding in a small room full of pipes or something? Yeah, Ray realized an explosion was likely coming, and packed them into the basement's boiler room just as the explosion was blowing in the windows. Typical "movie physics" where one can outrun an explosion, unlike in real life. I have gone back to the film to look into this. The air crash takes place at night, ending with a blackout and "...are we still alive?" Rae then goes outside in the morning. (I'm guessing a gap of about a couple of hours.) Okay, thanks for the correction Moorkey.

We might just have to accept defeat on this one that it doesn't make sense, ie it was a balls-up on the part of Koepp or Spielberg ran out of money to pay extras to lie around dead!

It's not in there, and it's a bloody shame. I really hope we get to see it once in the future. If you want to get it you might want to consider bol.com that is where I got it from. Spirit of Man consider yourself lucky, it's a nice addition to your War of the Worlds collection. Tripod

What's this "Camelot" scene you keep talking about? I think I asked once before but I've forgotten the answer. The Camelot-Scene is a sequence in which Ray, Robbie and Rachel are walking through a town which is being searched by Tripods. At one moment they come across one that is pulling people out of their houses. Then Ray supposedly says, ''Nothing can touch them.'' re camelot scene, I saw that link in the past from eve of the war, at first, I was sad that they did'nt make that scene, but now after all theses months, I think they should have done, it, it would be awsome.
also i saw an image of peoples being on the street, not downtown, not rural in between, looking at the horizon seeing lights, or fire or the two of them, it was night time. Never saw that in the movie either. my first paragraphe i did here on wotw on line was based on that. i will probably utilise it in the futur, with a lot more worked out text lol. If you know someting about it, it would be nice cheers everybody. Chantale.

It was filmed, but for some odd reason it was cut from the movie
That was the first trailer for the movie, it was never intended to be included in the final version of the film

Thanks, Tripod!
Known as 'Camelot' for its ethereal lighting design, the sequence was shot with principal performers on a fogged soundstage set.
Sorry, I still don't get it. Is that a reference to the movie "Camelot"? I don't recall any especially memorable fog scene. Now if it were "Excalibur" I could see it... lotsa fog in that film. Maybe it's a reference to a stage production?
