The 3 deputies at the beginning of the movie make me smile a bit, especially when they were trying to figure out what they'll say to the Martians & come up with "Welcome to California!".

" They may for instance, be able to smell colours" WHAT? ;D ;D Sounds crazy, but may not be, especially for an alien. There is believed to be a similar condition in some humans: "a researcher investigating an unusual type of sensation called synaesthesia -- a condition in which a person interprets a signal from one of the senses with another sense entirely. Synaesthetics may "hear" colors, "feel" tastes, or "see" sounds."As for the movie, someone already mentioned the guy cheating at cards. Means nothing to the movie, but certainly makes me smile. And that bit where the scientist asks Sylvia to move closer to the eye: "lets see why it was interested in you..." What is that all about ? Does he expect the eye to wink at her ? Kev

It's also possible for certain chemicals in foods and some aromatics to cause auditory and visual halucinations in some people with the syndrome. It's a freaky thing. Interesting to read about.

The bit that REALLY makes me laugh out loud, is when they are in the house, and suddenly Sylvia feels someones sucker/fingers on her shoulder- she slowly turns with eyes WIDE open, and looks down to see the martian there, looking straight back at her! Now, if I were a murderous martian race hell bent on killing all humans on Earth, why send in a martian who apparently, when he finds any humans, politely taps them on the shoulder and asks them why they aren't fried yet?!!
