Deleted Scene Image Plus CineFex Scans
« Thread Started on Sept 18, 2005, 9:30pm »

This may be of interest to some of you.

Thanks to Charles Galuski we have added 24 scans from the War of the Worlds special of CineFex magazine. The scans include high resolution images of many of the big special effects shots from Spielbergs War of the Worlds including a brand new image from a scene of which was cut from the theatrical release. The new image is a screen of the described deleted scene that was mentioned at comic con involving a tripod tearing people from a building as Ray (Tom Cruise) and his family look on.

The scans also include interesting information about how all the scenes were created.

And heres the deleted scene image

Fingers crossed this be on the DVD.

Thanks for that.

Why did they cut it out? It would have improved the film. I just want to go over there and biff them for a missed opportunity.

So many things get cut because of the time factor. I really hope there will be a special edition with the extra stuff in.

Wasn't there a photo of Ray talking to a priest at some point? That was obviously cut too.

Yeah there was mate, but after i first saw the film and then returned to the image i noticed it was actually Spielberg directing Cruise. :o

But there are plenty of scene involving the red weed that were cut between the ferry and the battle.

You know, that battle in the film. The scene that was cut showed a soldier giving a Tripod a darn good ticking off for setting fire to his Hummer.

CUT SCENE

Tripod emerges over crest of hill as it opens fire with it's Heat Ray upon the advacing hummers.

Soldier - "I say there young fellow, that was a very very very very very very very very very very very naughty thing you just did. If one does that sort of thing again, one will have to report you and you certainly dont want to make us American soldiers cross you know, were pretty darn angry when things don't go our way, so you've been warned, so off with you - shoooooooo I say, shoooooo"

The film didn't seem that long, why not keep the scene?

Does this Soldier have an identity crisis or something? :-/
